PUT-UP Philosophy (Teachers and students are in the same boat in a classroom. Let's all help each other build up not tear down. We are resources for each other.)

Remember that YOU make individual choices. You are in charge of yourself and only yourself. You choose to follow or break rules; you are aware of the consequences of your choices. You make a difference in the lab or classroom--so let's stay positive and contribute in a manner that allows everyone to feel safe and to succeed! Honor your mistakes and move past them. We're all here to learn from each other. :)

How we Enter:

  •         Enter quietly and stay quiet. As soon as you enter the room you have entered a learning threshold and all socializing and playground behavior stops.
  •         Immediately check the board for bellwork and follow the directions.
  •         Prepare yourself before the bell rings by having two sharpened pencils out and all books and classroom materials mentioned on the board ready to use.
  •         Begin bellwork BEFORE class begins.
  •         Unless you have a pass from the office or another teacher, you must be prepared before the bell.

Students unprepared at the bell will stay in one minute before lunch or after the 4th period bell rings. You will also be counted tardy. Two tardies in one week results in a detention.

After the Bell:

When the teacher counts to five you a. look up at the teacher  b. put pencils and other materials down c. stop talking.

Classroom rules:

1. Stay in your assigned seat unless you have permission to walk around.

2. Stop talking when I count to five.

Each time I count to five and a majority of students keep talking ALL students will stay in one minute before lunch or after 4th bell rings.

Each time I count to five and a few individual students keep talking those select students will stay in one minute before lunch or after 4th bell rings.

3. Listen and keep your lips zipped ANYTIME the teacher is talking and during ALL instruction and discussion times. Raise your hand if you want to comment and wait to be called on before speaking.

4. Use whisper voice level one at all times in the classroom.

5. No gum, drinks, or food in class

6. If the teacher gives you a warning or asks you to do something do it quietly and quickly. If you feel frustrated by a behavioral consequence or infraction comment or express yourself in writing. Put your note in the multi-colored can on the supply table.

Two detentions in a week and we have a conference with your parents

In Room 15: Each quarter you will have:

5 bathroom passes; 2 drink passes. Once you use these up you may not use the restroom or get a drink in the pod for the rest of the quarter. No exceptions.

In Lab B: Ask for permission to get a drink. You may sign out for the restroom. A pattern of extensive drink and bathroom use will result in loss of bathroom privileges.
